This smart robot vacuum and mop is a fantastic option for a wide range of homes. It has a great navigation system that incorporates GPS and laser sensors. The main selling point of Eufy's this device is its laser navigation. The previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It also takes a lot less time to create a comprehensive picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to easily throw debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are adept at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests revealed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is great for spills that are not too large but you cannot control how much water it consumes and this will reduce its effectiveness for more severe staining. It does, however, do an admirable job of removing pet hair, and has a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum comes with outstanding cleaning power, stunning design and excellent navigation. However, it has some operational issues that keep it from ranking as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping technology which uses LIDAR to map an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and eliminating obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped, the app lets you assign virtual no-go areas and areas that you want to clean. will clean automatically. You can also begin cleaning manually or change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the onboard cameras, and more from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. And its sweeping and suction power are top-notch and cleans up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors that are unfinished. But it's not the most flexible robot available. Like many others it's not a very good climber and has issues with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

It is essential for a robot capable of doing the job, so our ZDNet team has tested and reviewed some of the most popular models to help you select the right one for your house.

4. Shark ION

This budget robot looks like your standard robot, however it's an upgrade in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2-D maps of your home and makes use of them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's even able to spot common obstructions such as power cords and furniture legs in real time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it off stairs make it one of the most flexible vacs we've tested.

In our tests, it effortlessly moved over large shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive and its overall score on carpet and bare floors beat out the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than competitors. There's a round cleaning button on the top and you can launch it via the app or via voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also create a schedule for your daily or weekly cleans, create no-go zones, and see its cleaning history. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible for emptying, and removing the filters is also simple.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S could be a good choice. It also has more advanced automation features than most competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. Although its app isn't the most responsive, and the 980 does spin out a bit when rolling over cables, it's an extremely efficient robot vacuum.

We love the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM), to memorise your home's floor plan. It uses this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a more efficient vacuum than the majority of high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt on hard floors and carpets and the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensor for floor tracking helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and up stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to its base station for hassle-free recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as great as some other robot vacuums. However, it's a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
